Sparkling Sapphire 45th Anniversary Membership Campaign 2021-22

Franklin Furnace Archive invites you to become a member and join the celebrations of our Sparkling Sapphire 45th Anniversary!

Please join our artist-led nonprofit organization on our mission to present, preserve, interpret, proselytize and advocate on behalf of avant-garde art, especially forms that may be vulnerable due to institutional neglect, cultural bias, their ephemeral nature, or politically unpopular content. We are proud to be an independent organization in residence at Pratt Institute and want to count you among the many loyal stakeholders who support our avant-garde passions.

With your support, Franklin Furnace will continue identifying gutsy emerging artists, protecting their rights to free speech, and documenting their art historical records for posterity. 2020-21 has been like a diamond in the rough – it’s taking a lot of work to get to the core. Thankfully, our leaders are coming through brilliantly. With support from Jerome Foundation, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and The SHS Foundation, our 2021-22 artists’ peer panel reviewed proposals from around the world and awarded Franklin Furnace Fund grants to emerging performance artists Zeelie Brown, Mrinalini Aggarwal (Supermrin) & Jessica Fertonani Cooke, Armando Cortés, Liz Ferrer & Bow Ty, Caroline Garcia & Gaby López, Lariel Joy, Ogemdi Ude, Kiyan Williams, and Robin LaVerne Wilson.

In January, Tsubasa Berg joined our staff as Photographic Digitization Specialist and began working alongside Senior Archivist Michael Katchen and Archives Assistant Fang-Yu Liu on Birth of a Pioneering Collection, our collaboration with MoMA and Pine Tree Foundation of New York to make tens of thousands of archival records freely available to the public. And SEQ ART KIDS, our award-winning children’s art program, is now transcending tradition by sending performance artists into public school classrooms via Zoom.

As we continue making the world safe for avant-garde art, Franklin Furnace urges you to contribute to our Sparkling Sapphire 45th Anniversary Membership Campaign 2021-22 .

Please pick your glittering perques below, send in your contribution today, and further our quest for innovative art and social justice for all.  Thank you.
