Your membership supports 2023-24 ongoing and new programs:
The Franklin Furnace FUND for Performance Arts, now in its 38th year, is supported in 2023-24 by Jerome Foundation, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, SHS Foundation and Silicon Valley Community Foundation. We will soon announce awards totaling $60,000 to bold and risk-taking early-career artists who will perform line in NYC and/or on the Franklin Furnace Digital LOFT.
Franklin Furnace continues sharing time-based art with the future generations via SEQ ART KIDS, its award-winning public school education program, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Philanthropic Trust, NYSCA, DCA, Art Shop Fund, the Milton & Sally Avery Arts Foundation, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
In June, Franklin Furnace announced its new 2023 XENO PRIZE, two cash prizes of $5,000 each to be awarded in September 2023, for one LGBTQ+- identifying early-career performance artist working in one of the 18 United States which ban gender-affirming care; and one for an artist to publish an edition of artists’ books on the topic of book banning/burning. Named in honor of those who appreciate all people and cultures, XENO PRIZE recipients will be announced later this month.
