The Franklin Furnace Privacy Policy
Franklin Furnace Archive, Inc. (Franklin Furnace) is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust, and accordingly maintains the following privacy policy to protect personal information you provide.
Franklin Furnace’s Commitment to Security
Physical, electronic and managerial procedures have been employed to safeguard the security and integrity of personal information. Donor personal information is stored in-house on a FilemakerPro database that is secured via standard virus and internet security software. Hard copies of donor information, and the IRS W-9 forms submitted by recipients of Franklin Furnace grants, are stored in Franklin Furnace’s private offices on the campus of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. Personal information is accessible only by staff and volunteers designated to handle the matter for which such information was submitted. All Franklin Furnace agents and contractors with access to personal information obtained on the Franklin Furnace web site are also bound to adhere to this policy as part of their contract with Franklin Furnace.
Personal Information that Franklin Furnace May Collect Online
Franklin Furnace collects the following types of personal information: names, postal and e-mail addresses, phone and facsimile numbers, and billing information. Franklin Furnace may also collect information from donors, applicants for grants from Franklin Furnace, and applicants for membership or program participation, some of which might constitute personal information. As a condition of funding, recipients of grants from Franklin Furnace must provide completed IRS W-9 forms. Franklin Furnace does not knowingly collect or maintain any personal information from children under the age of 13.
How Franklin Furnace May Use Personal Information Collected Online
Unless you consent otherwise, Franklin Furnace will use your personal information only for the purpose for which it was submitted, such as to replying to inquiries, and processing billing and requests. We will use such information to provide operational notices, in program record keeping and to conduct research on industry marketplace practices. Our research may lead to the publication of aggregate demographical data but will not result in the reporting or publication of any personal information provided to us. At certain points where personal information is collected on our site, there may be a box where you may indicate you would like to be on a list to receive information about Franklin Furnace and its programs, and about ways to support Franklin Furnace. Also, from time to time, Franklin Furnace may wish to contact you for patron-related activities. At any time you can add or remove your name from our mailing list by contacting us at mail@franklinfurnace.org.
How Your Information May Be Shared
Franklin Furnace never sells or rents personal information. Franklin Furnace will not publicize or share personal information obtained from donors (including donation levels), grant recipients, members, artists, or visitors without their permission, except as follows:
- As a condition of funding, recipients of grants from Franklin Furnace must permit Franklin Furnace to publicize their names and the amount of funding they received.
- Personal information may be disclosed to third parties, such as Franklin Furnace’s bank, in order to process applications and donations, or to provide requested products or services.
- Financial information may be maintained and housed by Franklin Furnace’s third party payment processing center, PayPal, for the purpose of processing payments and conducting related transactions.
- Franklin Furnace may release personal information where release is required by law (for example, a subpoena) or regulation, or where Franklin Furnace determines that such disclosure is appropriate to protect the life or health of any person or the property of Franklin Furnace.
While Franklin Furnace may undertake efforts to see that any third party to which Franklin Furnace discloses personal information is under a contractual obligation to use the personal information solely for the purposes for which the information was disclosed, such third parties are independent third parties over which Franklin Furnace exercises no control. Franklin Furnace is not responsible for, and will not be liable for, the actions or omissions of such third parties.
