If you missed seeing my newest Wall Doll “Cinched Lady” at CBGB Art Gallery/Dollhaus’ Terrible Toy Fair II some weeks ago, here’s your second chance to be introduced. Lagging with the Lololols is a surreal journey across the multiple platforms of cyberspace, a recombinant collage of virtual identities and an ironic examination of the possibility of spiritual transcendance via technology. Lagging with the Lololos is staged using two live-stage performers, together with webcams and the Palace chat room software. The narrative moves across and between live stage, chatroom, and webcam, creating a new spatial performance mode described as cyberformance. Cyberformance is live art: everything takes place in real time, nothing is pre-recorded.

The symposium aims to unravel the aesthetics, ethics and future of biosciences. Do works of art inspired by new scientific insights into genetics explore the posthuman condition? Do biomedical science and genetics have a similar creative impact on contemporary art to that of anatomy during the Renaissance? What are the implications for artists using DNA and genetically modified organisms as their media of choice? How do we view today’s alliances of science and art?

The related exhibition, Designer Bodies shows at Stills from 3rd April – 6th June 2004. Artists Christine Borland, Gina Czarnecki, Jacqueline Donachie and Gair Dunlop use photography, film and digital media to explore the implications of genetics for disease treatment, human bioderversity, social perceptions and species boundaries. The resulting works spark excitement, fear and awe.

8. Skúta, FF Alumn, invites audience participation at Armory Art Fair, NY, March 13
The artist Skúta invites audience participation in the creation of one of his artist’s books as part of his current project “52 books/52 weeks.” During the Armory Art Fair, Saturday, March 13 at pier 90, 12th Avenue and 50th Street in Manhattan, individuals are invited to bring printed material — books, magazines, brochures, newspapers, and other items — to the Art in General stand, where the artist will “read” or “remark” the material by underlining, outlining or crossing out a word or sentence on the page. Skuta will then date and sign the piece. This performance of reading/remarking will be documented and become one of the books in the series “52 book/52 weeks.”

here’s the latest Coco Go a.k.a. SuperSkyWoman, FF Alumn
a. SuperSkyWoman is represented in the International Sustainable Design Competition for Ground Zero sponsored by Green Ground Zero with 17 vignettes for Permacultural systems, “Skyfilters” and Reinhabiting our Place.

b. SuperSkyWoman is participating in the three month project, “Where is your home?” curated by Klemens Golf and Anne Mommertz, taking “pictures of my town”. The images will be projected onto a facade of a house in Dusseldorf, Germany in serial frequency. Name of the artist and town of origin on the picture is mentioned. It is meant to show current pictures, almost simultaneously taken from different cities around the world. The pictures are slowly moved in horizontal direction. Project starts by the end of March 2004. In the future, the projects’ direction might be able to turned and set up as a projection in your town as well and send images from here to there.
She’ll be contributing the two towns, Chappaqua where she caregives, living with a parent for her eighth year, & Lower Manhattan-Tribeca where she steals away some art silence in her studio, + a third thread, her neighborhood Ground Zero coming back to life.

Self-portraits of the creators of the Funtastic United Nations selected initially by Vittore Baroni, Emanuela Biancuzzi, Piermario Ciani, Carlo Clocchiatti, Alessandra Ghirardelli, Ferruccio Giromini, Moreno Miorelli and Roberto Vidali. 404 arte contemporanea presents Angelo Ricciardi’s exhibition ART LINE DO NOT CROSS in the new exposition space of via Santa Brigida in Napoli, Italy.
The show documents contiguous events produced during 2003 in the cities of Napoli, Berlin, New York, Milan, London, Venice, Bologna, Jakobstad, Pforzheim, Millwaukee, Perugia, Novi Ligure, Gleisdorf, Cesena, Weerde, Torino, and Chappaqua.
The yellow strip ART LINE DO NOT CROSS, is derived by substituting ART for the word POLICE in the warning strip POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS which has been made familiar by decades of use in American fiction cinematography for delineating the off limits crime scene. It is reproduced here by Angelo Ricciardi in requests for intervention to open up a discourse on limits, barriers, sites and confines of art in the contemporary world. In the exhibition, alongside the installation of the rolls of distributed ART LINE strips one also finds the participation of an impossible Marcel Duchamp, Piet Mondrian, Hugo Ball and Richard Hamilton who return to their roles and responsibilities in the historic Avantgarde. Texts by Francesca Comisso (a.titolo), Vinni Lucherini, Vincenzo Cuomo are published in the catalog.
