1. James Scruggs, FF Fund for Performance Art winner 2003, presents Disposable Men at HERE, January 6 and 7, 8:30 pm

Disposable Men will be performed on Tuesday, January 6, and Wednesday January 7, at 8:30pm at Here Arts Center, Spring St. and 6th Avenue 212 647 0202 for ticket info.

Disposable Men, is a solo performance piece about the true stories of unrelated African American males who died horrific deaths, at the hands of irrational white men. The piece examines the uncanny relationship that African American men and classic Hollywood monsters share. It is performed with video and radical audience participation

James Scruggs is a member of Naked Angels Writers Lab, his short play, Thuggish was performed in February 2003. He, was awarded a 2002 Performance Art Grant from Franklin Furnace to complete Disposable Men. He performed Touchscape an original solo piece for Queer at Here Festival 2002, at Here Arts Center.

Hi Everyone,
The Electric Junkyard Gamelan will be performing two shows as part of HERE’s annual CultureMart Festival on January 4th & 5th. If you don’t already know we play original gamelan inspired music on invented instruments. You can check out our sound on my website and see some pics of some of the instruments too. We will be premiering a new piece featuring tap dancer Margaret Morrison as well as rockin on some of our old hits. Please come down, its good clean fun for all ages.

Penny Arcade reads at Poetry Project Annual New Years Benefit Reading at 8pm doors open at 2pm over 120 poets and performers at St Marks in the Bowery 2nd ave at East 10th st. $15. Penny will be performing from her new show Rebellion Cabaret with Church of Betty’s Chris Rael, Rima Fand and Marlon Cherry

She will also be appearing in the day at The Bowery Poets Club new annual
alternative marathon reading 2pm to midnight Free. Bowery at Bleeker St

Clemente Padin: POINT FINAL
Objective: denouncing the compulsive disparition of the opposers to the dictatorships like a brutal and inhuman system of resolving the social antagonisms and, at the same time, reaffirming the principles of tolerance and mutual respect like basic element in the human relationships in a climate of peace and justice.

The performer, managing the expressive own instruments in this way artistic, attempt, with his movements and his actions, represent the climate that during more than 10 years should suffer the Uruguayan people without possibilities of exercising its more straight valuables. Also, artist wants involve to the public in the performance like a communion of feelings and reflections with regard to the validity of the liberty and the human rights.

CLEMENTE PADIN is an Uruguayan performer, experimental poet, graphic, videomaker, net and mail artist, networker and art critic, graduated on Hispanic Literature at the Republic of Uruguay´s University.

Franc Palaia, FF Alumn, announces a Symposium for the Luminous Image, VI exhibition at Collaborative Concepts gallery, Beacon NY. Saturday, January 10 at 6pm. The following artists will show slides of their work and discuss the concept of illumination and photography.
