3. Judith Sloan, FF Alumn, wins commission for radio doc to air on NPR TONITE

Judith Sloan’s “Tongues Twisting”  Short DOC to air on NPR’s All Things Considered http://www.npr.org

About the piece:
Tongues Twisting
Clapping games and tongue-twisters in multiple languages turn into stories when Sloan records young immigrants in a theatre workshop. Memories of life “back home”, broken families, and thoughts about dual realities are woven together with rhythm games and performances as the kids reveal the game of adapting to life in America.

The piece that will air on All Things Considered is a short version of the documentary that was commissioned by the Third Coast International Audio Festival, Chicago 2005 http://www.thirdcoastfestival.org/shortdocs_2005_archive.asp

Wishing you and all of us a better year in 2006!

4. Jay Critchley, FF Alumn, at Cape Inn, Provincetown, Jan. 7, 2006, 4 pm

Greetings,

Please join me for the 23 rd Annual Re-Rooters Day Ceremony, Saturday, January 7, 2006, 4:00pm at Cape Inn beach/sand flats, East End of Provincetown (rain or shine, snow or blizzard). Dress warmly, wear boots and bring something you wish to discard/purge from your life (non-toxic material; if you are unable to attend you may email/mail me something to burn on the tree/boat).

This annual ceremony, which follows the Twelve Days of “Stockpiling” and Three Kings Day (Jan 6), celebrates the end of the Christmas Season – an opportunity to re-root ourselves to the Earth. It is a personal, political, spiritual and humorous purge of the past year through song, chant and the ritual burning of a discarded Christmas tree/boat at sunset on Provincetown Harbor.

Hope to see you. Bring a friend. Plan to come over to 7 Carnes Lane after the ceremony.

PIECE, Jay
