Barbara Hammer, FF alum, Hammer’s award-winning documentary on art during a time of war, RESISTING PARADISE, will close the upcoming art activist’s conference , a post-inaugural assembly Jan22-23,”And So Forth” on Jan 23 at OfficeOps, 57 Thames Street in East Williamsburg, 6-9 pm in Williamsburg.
On Saturday, Jan. 22 from 12:40-l:55, at Even Space at OfficeOps, Hammer will join a panel “Documenting: Ethical and Aesthetic Considerations” with Danny Schecter of Globalvision and Matisse Bustons of Witness.

Building E at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Staten Island
An Exciting New York City Location for Cultural Organizations
The New York City Economic Development Corporation, in conjunction with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Inc. is seeking expressions of interest for the rehabilitation, adaptive reuse and on-going cultural-educational operations of Building E, which is located on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center. The RFEI solicits ideas for cultural-educational uses consistent with the development of the “front five” landmark buildings of Snug Harbor. The agencies will consider responses for Building E including, but not limited to: museums, performing and visual arts organizations, arts education, rehearsal spaces and community facilities. Detailed submission guidelines and requirements are outlined in the RFEI, which can be downloaded at www.nycedc.com/snugharborRFEI. 4. Leon Ferrari, FF Alumn, inspires big anti-censorship rallies in Buenos Aires, Argentina
A judge ordered the closing of an exhibition in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Leon Ferrari, FF Alumn. There have been all kinds of protests and campaigns from artists and institutions against censorship. Approximately 2000 people attended a protest a few days ago. Just today, though, the Buenos Aires city justices concluded, in a divided vote, to reopen Leon Ferrari’s show at Centro Cultural Recoleta that was closed on December 17 by a judge because it was considered that was hurting religious feelings. It seems that the show that was classified as “blasphemous” by authorities of the Catholic Church, will be able to open its doors again on January 2.
In the decision, the justices of Buenos Aires, ordered to the city government to put a sign at the gallery door that will alert the visitors of the show’s content and the possible impact that some of the art pieces may have on their religious sentiments. It was ordered too that that warning should appear in any publication about the show.
Religious organizations were considering their next steps and were evaluating the possibility of an appeal.
