Goings On | 01/02/2023 - Franklin Furnace

The first week of 2023 is the last week of the exhibition PEREMOGA/vistory, ukr., curated by Irina Danilova. War related installations and performances of five young Ukrainian women artists, Olya Fedorova, Daria Koltsova, Natalia Lisova, Maria Kulikovska, and Maria Proshkowska (born and raised in the independent Ukraine, after the collapse of the Soviet Union), will be on view at the WhiteBox at 9 Ave. B, NYC, from Wednesday, January 4 till Saturday, January 7, 11am – 6 pm.

On Sunday, January 8th, the exhibition PEREMOGA/vistory, ukr. will be open at 1pm and will conclude at 5pm -7 pm, with a performance program at Whitebox, 9 Avenue B, Manhattan, curated by Katya Grokhovsky. Performers:

Elly Clarke (UK), Kathie Halfin (Crimea), Bob Holman (NYC), Lesya Verba (Odesa), and Chin Chin Yang (Taiwan). The farewell improvisation on oboe to the exhibition that affected every viewer will be performed by Matt Sullivan.

4. Claire Jeanine Satin, FF Alumn, recent news

One of the series of eleven Alphabook Portfolios has been purchased by a collector in the UK, Books On Books. The series creation was supported by the grant of The Consortium in the amount of $ 15,000. A joint collaboration of five counties in Florida awarded once a year. Two of the series were purchased by The Rare Books and Special Collections of the Library of Congress Washington DC and several by other institutions and collections. This portfolio is Alphabook: Cherokee Portfolio. After it has been catalogued it will be included in the exhibition “The Alphabet and Artists Books” in the Bodleian Library Oxford University in the UK in the spring of 2023. I sent in a jaunty seasonal tune called “Frankincense.” The other songwriters are Rosa Nebula, Karen Waltuch, Meg Reichardt, Kurt Hoffman, and Brian Dewan; the assembled also recorded the Ukrainian folksong “Mnohaya Lita.”
