3. Doug Skinner, FF Alumn, new publication with Black Scat Books

Happy Holidays!

I’m glad to announce that “We Are Not Sheep” is now available from Black Scat Books. This delightful collection, first published in 1896, shows the peerless French humorist Alphonse Allais in full pursuit of the ridiculous. You’ll find  a painter who trains bats to act as a parasol,

the love life of a one-man band, a plan to make sandals from the skin of the poor, the military use of legless soldiers, the man who couldn’t decide where to put his beard when he slept, and much more: 44 stories, plus four extra stories selected for this edition. Translated, annotated, and introduced by Doug Skinner. Designed by Norman Conquest, and with a frontispiece by Corinne Taunay.

I also contributed a poem and a piano piece to the magazine “Bed Bug,” also from Black Scat.

Both of these gems are available on Amazon. Doug Skinner

Thank you.

Happy Holidays Special (Comedy) [14:14″] — Everyone loves the colorful lights, decorations, and excitement, but…well, the holidays can quickly go off the rails, right?! To celebrate the antic festivities, BBC broadcaster Basil Wraithbone returns to the infamous Happy Valley Retirement Village to report on the satirical shenanigans.

The eight characters I portray can be traced back to my childhood marionette theatre, which fired my desire to become the puppets:  Construction worker Buddy; chef Foo Chi; oligarch spy Boris Badenough; 151-year old Ole’ Grandpa; Cockney TV fanatic Randy PIncer; along with actresses Tallulah Bankhead and Katherine Heartburn.
