William Wegman; William Wegman and Man Ray

In 1970, William Wegman got his first Weimaraner, which he named Man Ray. Man Ray, who became the central figure in Wegman's photographs and videotapes, was known in the art world for his endearing deadpan presence. In 1972 Wegman and Man Ray moved to New York and continued their twelve year collaboration. The Village Voice even named Man Ray the "Man of the Year" in 1982. Throughout the 80's Wegman's cast grew to include other Weimaraners--Fay Ray, Battina, Crooky, Chundo, and Chip.
