Since its founding in 1976, Franklin Furnace has actively made its collections and archives available for research. The archives of Franklin Furnace began as active office files used to administer all aspects of the organization. As these records accumulated, the organization saw the value of assessing, cataloging and disseminating the information they contained. In 1997, during its 20th anniversary season, Franklin Furnace transformed from a physical exhibition space into an Internet-based one, making its website its public face and redefining its mission to present its programs and make its history accessible to the public online. The Internet was seen as a key medium for accomplishing both. Here in Franklin Furnace's RESEARCH pages, you will have access to our institutional history, as well as related resources.
