Nancy Alfaro’s one-woman show uses text, movement and music to tell a personal story of seriocomic proportions. A middle-aged parent stuck in a small city apartment describes her romantic and often unromantic adventures as a single mother trying to maintain her sexuality.

1. Robbin Ami Silverberg, FF Alumn, at Pratt Library, now online

Robbin Ami Silverberg
retrospective exhibition virtual tour

Read Me. Like a Book.

With great pleasure I am inviting you to the virtual tour of my exhibition, Read Me. Like a Book.

Due to the pandemic here in NYC, my Live at the Library exhibition and programs with Franklin Furnace and Pratt Library, has been closed to visitors since mid-March.
Fortunately, we had already taken photographs with Pratt photography professor, Ernst Fisher. Using his images, along with some others, I worked with my immensely talented exhibition & web designer, Noa Rabinovich Lalo, to create this virtual tour.

The exhibition still exists despite its original closing date of April 9th. How long it will remain in Pratt’s Brooklyn campus library is unclear. I do hope that we will at some point be able to resume a modicum of normalcy and engagement... and that many of you will be able to visit the exhibition at that time.

Explore the exhibition at this link:

8. Sanja Iveković, FF Alumn, online at stateofconcept.org thru April 25

State of Concept Athens
Artists for Moria
State of Concept for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières
April 21–25, 2020
stateofconcept.org

Well before the coronavirus pandemic began, the situation in Moria refugee camp was extremely critical. Now more than ever, solidarity is necessary.
Artists for Moria is a fundraiser to assist the efforts of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on the island of Lesvos, Greece. 16 international artists are donating their works for this effort. All proceeds go directly to MSF.

Works by the artists Yael Bartana, Rossella Biscotti, Banu Cennetoğlu, Chto Delat?, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Sanja Iveković, Emily Jacir, Bouchra Khalili, Metahaven, Nástio Mosquito, Ahmet Öğüt, Laure Prouvost, Oliver Ressler, Jonas Staal, Anton Vidokle, and the research agency Forensic Architecture.

With the support of the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Amsterdam).

Visual identity donated by Studio Remco van Bladel.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, people around the world are facing a global emergency which is overwhelming some of the world’s most organized and well-resourced healthcare systems. Already before the pandemic, the situation in Moria refugee camp was disastrous. Constructed for 2,757 people, it now houses 18,470 children, women, and men. Social distancing is impossible, running water scarce. On March 16, the first cases of COVID-19 were reported, and many have followed since.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is especially concerned about the impact COVID-19 will have on vulnerable people living in precarious conditions or with limited access to healthcare, such as those trapped in overcrowded refugee camps in Greece. For that reason, MSF aims to expand the provision of water and sanitation infrastructures to the camps and are scaling up the recruitment of extra medical, paramedical, support staff and the acquisition of necessary equipment.

Despite urgent calls to address the imminent dangers to all refugees by the COVID-19 pandemic, little action is taken by the Greek government and the European Union. The refugee crisis is also the result of wars waged by many of our governments, and the marginalization of refugees is due to the rise of extreme-right parties and rhetorics across the EU.

We aim to raise attention to the unacceptable conditions in the Greek camps, while we insist on the political obligation for a structural, European-wide defense of refugee rights.
Help MSF by buying a work, by donating directly or by sharing this fundraiser, so that we reach our goal to collect 15,000 euros for Moria refugee camp.

Thank you for your support and solidarity.

Estévez treads an elusive path that manifests itself performatively or through experiences where the quotidian and art overlap. He has exhibited and performed at Madrid Abierto/ARCO, The IX Havana Biennial, PERFORMA 05/07, IDENSITAT, Prague Quadrennial, Pontevedra Biennial, Queens Museum, MoMA, Printed Matter, Hemispheric Institute, Princeton University, Casita Maria, El Museo del Barrio, Center for Book Arts, Longwood Art Gallery/BCA, CALL/WALKS, Franklin Furnace, and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, among others.
