Kathleen White, In Memoriam

September 2nd marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of Kathleen White, life partner to Rafael Sánchez, FF Alumn. Both artists collaborated on numerous works from 2004 until Kathleen's passing in 2014. Through their not-for-profit alLuPiNiT, NYC a fund-raiser has been launched to help offset the costs of caring for Kathleen's creations and legacy. For those not familiar with her production, ARTnews has published a tribute to Kathleen White by Gary Indiana.

3. Ann-Marie LeQuesne, FF Alumn, on S. 38th Street, Philadelphia, PA, Sept. 2

Fanfare for Crossing the Road
Ann-Marie LeQuesne
invites you to cross the road
S 38th St & Woodland Walk
Philadelphia, PA 19104
September 2nd - 2pm
(continues for about an hour...)

Join us in Philadelphia for Fanfare for Crossing the Road - an international project that adds ceremony to a common event. To date it has been performed in London, Helsinki, Lisbon, Cardiff and New York. In each city I ask musicians - dressed in uniforms and positioned beside the traffic lights - to mimic as closely as possible the digital acoustic sounds (different everywhere) that signal the time to cross for the blind. The sound for Philadelphia is a bird chirp and the uniforms are red, white and black!

The film from this event will open at Icebox Project Space on Thursday, October 8th.

Ann-Marie LeQuesne is an artist living and working in London. She stages collaborative performances with groups of people. Previous events include Wave. a re-enactment off an icebreaker in the Arctic Circle; Double Exposure, simultaneous group photographs in London and Helsinki, linked by cell phone; and After the Fact, a re-enactment of the execution of the Emperor Maximilian on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
