1. Annie Sprinkle, Elizabeth Stephens, FF Alumns, in Spain, June 29-July 17

ECOSEX MANIFESTO
Draft 1.0

(i) WE ARE THE ECOSEXUALS. The Earth is our lover. We are madly, passionately, and fiercely in love, and we are grateful for this relationship each and every day. In order to create a more mutual and sustainable relationship with the Earth, we collaborate with nature. We treat the Earth with kindness, respect and affection.

(ii) WE MAKE LOVE WITH THE EARTH. We are aquaphiles, teraphiles, pyrophiles and aerophiles. We shamelessly hug trees, massage the earth with our feet, and talk erotically to plants. We are skinny dippers, sun worshipers, and stargazers. We caress rocks, are pleasured by waterfalls, and admire the Earth’s curves often. We make love with the Earth through our senses. We celebrate our E-spots. We are very dirty

(iii) WE ARE A RAPIDLY GROWING GLOBAL COMMUNITY OF ECOSEXUALS. This community includes artists, academics, sex workers, sexologists, healers, environmental activists, nature fetishists, gardeners, business people, therapists, lawyers, peace activists, eco-feminists, scientists, educators, (r)evolutionaries, critters and other entities from diverse walks of life.

Some of us are SexEcologists, researching and exploring the places where sexology and ecology intersect in our culture. As consumers we aim to buy less. When we must, we buy green, organic, and local. Whether on farms, at sea, in the woods, or in small towns or large cities, we connect and empathize with nature.

(iv) WE ARE ECOSEX ACTIVISTS. We will save the mountains, waters and skies by any means necessary, especially through love, joy and our powers of seduction. We will stop the rape, abuse and the poisoning of the Earth. We do not condone the use of violence, although we recognize that some ecosexuals may choose to fight those most guilty for destroying the Earth with public disobedience, anarchist and radical environmental activist strategies. We embrace the revolutionary tactics of art, music, poetry, humor, and sex. We work and play tirelessly for Earth justice and global peace. Bombs hurt.

(v) ECOSEXUAL IS AN IDENTITY. For some of us being ecosexual is our primary
(sexual) identity, whereas for others it is not. Ecosexuals can be GLBTQI, heterosexual, asexual, and/or Other. We invite and encourage ecosexuals to come out. We are everywhere. We are polymorphous and pollen-amorous. We educate people about ecosex culture, community and practices. We hold these truths to be self evident; that we are all part of, not separate from, nature. Thus all sex is ecosex.

(vi) THE ECOSEX PLEDGE. I promise to love, honor and cherish you Earth, until death brings us closer together forever.
VIVA LA ECOSEX REVOLUCION! JOIN US.

5. Isabel Samaras, FF Alumn, now online at warholian.com

FF Alumn Isabel Samaras is currently featured in the Warholian's documentary Artist Profile Series: http://warholian.com/2011/06/08/ isabel-samaras/

"Providing an in depth journey into what’s currently hot in the world of contemporary art, Warholian.com ladles out heaping spoonfuls of the current art scene, it’s posse, and its inspiring figures. Andy Warhol would have been proud of what is currently happening in the art world. Appropriation is at an all time high where artists are borrowing from the world around them and each other. It’s a Warholian world. Welcome to the future."

"We here at Warholian absolutely love Isabel Samaras. Her work is always incredibly refined, beautifully detailed, and wonderfully fun.
Isabel is well known for using nostalgic characters from television's past and inserting them in situations and juxtapositions we’d all like to see.
More recently her work has begun to focus on well known characters from fairy tales such as Goldilocks (as seen in her show "Into The Woodz" at Shooting Gallery SF) and "Heavy Gretel" this year at Corey Helford Gallery in LA.

"We filmed this interview with Isabel a few months back and hope you enjoy this glimpse into her studio and work. http://warholian.com/ 2011/06/08/isabel-samaras/

With just nine days remaining, concurrent exhibitions by Cindy Wright and Mark Fox will close on Saturday, July 9th to positive review and reception.

As a preview of the exhibition, ArtLog featured Cindy Wright with both a written overview of her upcoming show and a video interview that afforded insight into her practice. Shortly thereafter, support from Daily duJour, The Huffington Post and ArtWeek LA also touted the merits of both shows.

Says ArtLog, specifically of Wright:

Wright paints an updated version of traditional Dutch and Flemish still lifes, one balanced between photography and painting, as well as between clinical detachment and emotional involvement. Her subject matter is part of a long tradition of vanitas paintings, reminders of the transience and fragility of life, though her interpretations are unmistakably contemporary, taking advantage of the possibilities of her digital camera to capture and enlarge, for example, the broken filaments of a spider’s web or a cube made out of bacon.

Both artists sat down with videographer Will Tee Yang for interviews about their work, influences and technique - which can be viewed on both Vimeo and YouTube. For more information about the artists, please visit www.markmooregallery.com. A complimentary PDF of Mark Moore Gallery:

Statements 8 can be downloaded by clicking here - a hard copy may be obtained by emailing MMG's Publications Department. Inquiries regarding available work can be directed to the gallery.

Join us on Saturday, July 16 from 6-8pm for the opening reception for "Construct," New Works by Kiel Johnson and Cordy Ryman.
