This year’s benefit, conducted by Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby’s, will coincide with the grand opening of our spectacular new space at 315 West 36th Street, designed by Stephen Yablon Architect. The long awaited move to this 7,000 square foot ground floor location doubles our current studio, gallery and archive, providing opportunities for artists to explore new territory in paper. We plan to share the opening with the many “friends of the Mill” who have generously led the way to our success. We hope you will join us by participating in this very special event, featuring new works on handmade paper by Polly Apfelbaum, Lesley Dill, Tony Fitzpatrick, Jim Hodges, Kiki Smith, Daniel Zeller, and others. The silent auction will feature works by James Brown, Erik Hanson, Heather Hutchison, Sheila Pepe, and many others.

3. Alvin Eng, FF Alumn, @ China Institute, NY, thru Aug. 10, and more

Dear Friends:

2007 has been a year of many new ventures, some of which are beginning to bear fruit. So if you're in the city:

"High Five," a piece of what I call "conceptual calligraphy" will be included in "Blossoming Seeds of Vision," at the China Institute, 125 E. 65th St. (betw. Lexington & Park Ave.), NYC, that will be up from July 18 - August 10. More info: 212.744.8181, www.chinainstitute.org

Last spring, I made my debut as radio commentator with a two-minute piece on WNYC's broadcast of National Public Radio's "All Things Considered." The piece was inspired by my memoir monologue, "The Last Emperor of Flushing," and commemorated another opening day for the Mets and Spring. That piece is enclosed as an attached audio file . . . I am only gettin' round to circulating this now as it has been a very busy spring/summer that has included a 3-week trip to China––where I found my father's village and much more, and have also recently gotten engaged!

Hope this finds you well and having a rejuvenating summer.

5. Tim Miller, FF Alumn, @ Camelot Theaters, Palm Springs, CA, July 26

TIM MILLER performs in PALM SPRINGS July 26 -- 1001 BEDS!

Hi Folks!

I'll be performing in Palm Springs July 26 at the Camelot Theater doing my show 1001 BEDS. Please forward flyer below to any Palm Springs pals. Bring some folks! The show is based on my brand new book of the same name which just won the Lambda Literary Foundation award as best book in Drama-Theatre category! 1001 BEDS is a raucous and rowdy exploration of my queer adventures in a performer's life fiercely lived in travels through love, politics, sex and art.

Camelot Theaters 2300 E Baristo Road, Palm Springs will present for one night only, acclaimed performance Artist Tim Miller when he performs his award winning one man show, 1001 Beds on Thursday, July 26th @ 7.30pm Tickets are $22. for more information please call 564-3112 or the Camelot box office at 325-6565

"Tim Miller sings that song of the self which interrogates, with explosive, exploding, subversive joy and freedom, the constitution and borderlines of selfhood. . . . You think you don't need to hear such singing? You do! You must!"
-Tony Kushner, playwright of Angels in America

From a gay teen's head-on collision with life in a sleazy hotel across the street from the Hollywood Bowl to an ecstatic vision of a sex-positive future on a mattress in a police holding cell, the show is a kinky and funny journey thru the beds and hotels and life on the road as a traveling salesman- oops I mean a performance artist! I was doing the math recently and I figured that if I continue to tour as a performer for another twenty years, I will end up sleeping in at least 1000 hotel beds in my lifetime on the road. For maximum poetic oomph, let's say 1001 beds! Yikes!

The book "1001 BEDS" came out recently and is a collection of my essays, performances, manifestos, performance touring stories from Tokyo to Chattanooga and my journals. 1001 BEDS is a fiercely funny, sexy and inspiring story based on excerpts from the book about the transforming power of art and the richness of gay identity lived out loud. Here's a little spiel from my blog.

Here's the book cover.
best, TimMiller

10. Isabel Samaras, FF Alumn, @ Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, and more

Hi folks,
Just a quick update about various goings on. If I were more savvy this would be all pretty HTML stuff but all I can do is type and paint (and cook a mean Limoncello cheesecake), so here it is --

A fun interview on Skip-Raid,

And paintings in two shows, "Vegas Rocks" at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, curated by M Modern Gallery, and "Venus" at Roq La Rue up in Seattle (see attached). Meanwhile I'm noodling away on some stellar paintings for a show at the always terrific Copro Nason in the fall (be there or be L7.)

Hope everyone is having a fabu summer,

Isabel Samaras
