YELLOW WEDDING #3 Artists Annie Sprinkle and Elizabeth Stephens get legally married at gala performance art wedding. Everyone is invited!

IT’S A REAL WEDDING AND A PERFORMANCE! Ex-porn star, sexologist and performance artist Annie Sprinkle, and sexy dyke playboy, experimental artist and professor Elizabeth Stephens are madly in love. They have vowed to have a wedding every year for seven years, to generate and celebrate love, and also to protest the anti-gay marriage movement. This is the third wedding of their series, the first in Canada, and it will take advantage of Canadian laws to legally bind the blushing brides.

Stephens and Sprinkle invited the Calgary arts community to help co-create their wedding, and it responded with great enthusiasm. There is now an amazing line up of artists making phantasmagorical offerings for the ceremony, and reception.

When “guests” arrive they will be greeted by two giant chickens, get yellow boutonnières, and enjoy live music by trio, Consonant C. Sprinkle and Stephens promise that the wedding procession and bridal parties “will be absolutely eyegasmic.” Calgary’s own Nomi Whalen will officiate the vows, flanked by the Imperial Court of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Yellow Wedding #3 will include very traditional wedding elements, and also some rather experimental twists on the themes.

The Mother of Dada, Sheri-d Wilson will MC. The ceremony will also include a striptease by the best man, a Hindu Elephant Goddess blessing, singing and dancing drag kings, a belly dancer, a gender bending ring bearer, and of course, The Kiss. A unique reception is planned and will offer dancing, more performances, free sex advice from a sex expert, lemon tittie tortes, yellow garter toss and a Dada style toast. Everyone is requested to dress in yellow or gold with the themes of the wedding in mind; courage, power, and love. This is an 18 and over event, as it will likely contain nudity. Sprinkle and Stephens have been living together for almost five years and are more in love than ever. Last year when one of them got breast cancer, they made it into an art project. They are also currently touring a theater piece about their love story called EXPOSED; Experiments in Love, Sex, Death and Art. Committed to doing seven years of art projects about love, their umbrella project is called the Love Art Laboratory.

Using parallax and asynchronous sound, 'how long has it been' asks a question about how one person consents to the submission of his experience of time to another.
