Professor Emeritus Claus Clüver will make a special visit to Austin, Texas to give a guided tour of the current exhibition Brazilian Visual Poetry on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at 4:00 PM at Mexic-Arte Museum.

Claus Clüver is a specialist in the study of word-image relations who has long been interested in "visual poetry", particularly by 20th-century poets. Since the early 1970s, he has taught such poems in his courses on the interrelations of the arts at Indiana University and has visited and interviewed visual poets in the US as well as in Germany, Portugal, and Brazil, where he has repeatedly served as a visiting professor. He has established especially close ties to Brazilian poets, including many who are represented in the exhibition of "Brazilian Visual Poetry" in Austin, and has published some fifteen studies about their work.
