Devora Neumark, FF Alumn, presents The Kindest Thing in France, May-June 2002
I wanted to let you know of a new work I will be doing in France called, "the kindest thing." This new work is an invitation to reflect upon and articulate an answer to the following question: "What is the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?" I will be in Rennes, France for some time soliciting answers to this question from strangers that I come into contact with around town. The recorded responses will be edited on-site and the resulting audio work will likely be aired on Rennes radio programming.
The new piece is part of an exhibition organized by the students of the Maîtrise des Sciences et Techniques des métiers de l'exposition, a contemporary art curatorial Masters program at Université Rennes 2 Haute Bretagne and hosted by the Galerie art & Essai at the University between May 14 - June 21, 2002.
The other artists participating in this exhibition are Marika Burhmann, Minerva Cuevas, Abraham Poincheval, Marta de Gonzalo and Publio Perez Prieto, and Nick Gee.
The student curators
(with the support of their Program Director, Ramon io Bellido) write that their
research has led them to question the notions of exchanges, meetings and social
relations. There will be a catalogue accompanying the exhibition.
