The Swim is proud to announce the addition of the Pool Splash this year. This new opportunity is intended for swimmers who, for any reason, are unable to participate in the harbor swim. The Pool Splash was inspired by Barbara Punis, who last year recovered from a serious accident by swimming in a pool until she reached her goal of over a mile, and raised $1,000 in the process. Volunteer Betty Villari is seeking a group of private and commercial pool owners to host swimmers for the Pool Splash
on September 7.

Three special concerts performed by Donna Roll & Friends to benefit the Swim for Life and the Provincetown Art Association & Museum will be held this summer on July 29, August 15, and August 13 at the Provincetown Art Association & Museum, 460 Commercial Street, Provincetown.

In 1997 the Circle of Honor was established to acknowledge the contributions of those who have either participated as a swimmer for 10 years, or raised more than $10,000 in pledges. Circle of Honor members to date include: Don Richards, Ted Cass, Glen Cunha, Michael Dively, Daryel Duhaime, Keith Fein, Patrick Finn, Eddie Goldstein, Ed Hudner, Gracie Johnston, Jon MacClaren, Bill Silvestri, Jonas Stankus, Joe Stewart, Steve Syta, and John Tom. Last year's David Asher Volunteer Award was issued to the Provincetown Rescue Squad.

The Provincetown Community Compact, organizer of the event, is a private non-profit tax exempt organization founded in 1993 to support the arts, environment, and well-being of Provincetown. Compact projects include the C-Scape Dune Shack, Art Archives, the Family Tree Project, as well as the Provincetown Harbor Swim for Life, the International Swim for Life (ISWIM), and Tennis for Life. The Compact is a co-founder of the Academy of Art, Science, and Technology at Provincetown High School.
