Reverend Billy returns with his not-so-comic church services starting November 4th for a series of Sunday nights. Joined this time by the 8-man Caribbean-American song-and-rap group "The Welfare Poets," the focus is peace and the cessation of bombing in Afghanistan. Tony Torn directs, in his return to his central role in this "strange worship."
"His collar
is fake but his calling is real."
Alisa Solomon, Village Voice
Noting the demotion of peace movement activities by the commercial press, the Reverend will honor independent media groups in the opening Sundays. Which activists will be honored on which nights will be made public periodically at Revbilly.com. "Beginning seven years ago as a parodic televangelist character, Rev. Billy is now something more sincere and complicated, a political clown in the vein of Abbie Hoffman and Dario Fo who ultimately isn't kidding." Andrew O'Hehir, Salon Magazine
*One show, Sun
Nov 18th, will take place at Charas Community Center
605 East 9th Street, at 7 PM featuring the Hungry March Band and other

Legal Fund.
