OpenMouse nite at FUN, July 26, 2001
Rhizome OpenMouse(tm) on Thursday, July 26, 2001 from 8pm-midnight at FUN, 130 Madison Street between Pike & Market, under the Manhattan Bridge overpass in an area that some real estate developers are now calling SoEaChi (pronounced "so-ee-chee"). The closest subway is the F train at East Broadway.
Rhizome OpenMouse is a collaboration between Rhizome.org and SoundLab/Cultural Alchemy. The concept: open mic for new media artists. Web sites, art software, live video mixing, ascii video and other forms of projected visual creativity combine with DJ sounds and cocktails to create an immersive location for community congregation.
This month's artists: Azhaday Asiadai, Jason Smith (OcNoMa), Laura Schwamb, Tim Jaeger, S. Mayo, Deric Carner, Geoff Seelinger, Matt Frost and William Byrne.
We'll also have DJ sets by DJ Duane and Singe and Verb, as well as live electronic music by Val, Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza and Ocular Noise Machine, featuring the "The Editar", a patented video sampling and sequencing guitar.
