THE MEDEAD is a work for ten performers, ranging from child to elderly, telling the life-journey of Medea. She came from Georgia, symbolizing to ancient Greeks the "oriental", the female, the power of non-rational language and healing - ,many of their culture's origins. She became portrayed as the infanticidal mother, a rewriting necessary to the genocidal and patriarchal project underlying Greek democracy. The denial remains deep in Western thought.
